This site is a tribute to Eamonn Long, who was born in Canning Town on July 12, 1958. He is much loved and will always be remembered. On his 61st birthday my husband Eamonn and father to our sons Danny and Matt, brother to Kevin passed away from cholangiocarcinoma a rare and aggressive cancer. During his journey he showed true grace and poise, even when faced with a terminal diagnosis. And I couldn’t be prouder. This ends the hardest year of our lives, starting with both of our cancer diagnoses and ending with his passing. I have learned an awful lot from this hideous experience, and gained many friends from it too. I, bizarrely would not trade this for the world because every second of the time I got to spend with him has been so incredibly special.
I’d like to give special mention to our lovely sons Danny and Matt who have been our rocks and their unflinching support for their Dad is immeasurable. They helped me with some of the less dignified tasks pertaining to Eamonn’s care.
Eamonn was our rock and guardian angel and has gone to be with the flocks of angels in heaven. He was handsome, charming, witty, funny, intelligent, kind, loyal, great company and a wonderful brother, husband and father to our boys, who he was always extremely proud of and they were his best friends. They came through in our darkest hours and faced challenges that no one should have to face. Our respect for them grew enormously in that time. The tenderness they showed was absolute. Cancer is cruel and cholangiocarcinoma is the beast of all cancers, taking Eamonn from us far too young!
To every single one of you, who has offered support, love and a gentle ear, Thank you. You’ve made this journey so much less difficult. But the journey doesn’t end here, as long as I live I will continue to champion causes that seek to end the evil that is cancer. And hope that you would do the same. For the final time; Rest in Peace Eamonn, I love you. Thank you for everything you ever did for us, we were so blessed to have you as our husband, father and brother.
